New Native American cultural experiences will soon add a new dimension to the educational and entertainment value of a visit to Butterfly Wonderland, America's largest butterfly pavilion.

Scottsdale’s newest attraction has announced a series of seasonal and permanent offerings that will serve as a cultural bridge to the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community in which it makes its home.

From a dedicated butterfly ambassador and "community concierge" to native food and dance events, the new program will help educate and introduce visitors to the centuries-old traditions of the community and its reverence for the natural world. Program highlights include:

Butterfly Ambassadors: From December 28, 2013 thru January 2, 2014 (9:00 a.m-4:30 p.m.), a dedicated Ambassador from the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community will be greeting guests and sharing the rich history, and culture of the Pima and Maricopa people. She will also serve as a “community concierge” to introduce guests to other cultural experience offerings in the community. The Butterfly Ambassadors will also be hosting a children’s arts/crafts table during the spring season.

Cultural Tastings: From December 20, 2013 -January 5, 2014, offerings will include authentic Indian Fry Bread and more! A member of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community will be on the patio between the hours of 10-3p.m.

Native Language: The Butterfly “Passport” will be expanded to include popular words and phrases with translations and pronunciations from the native language.
